Orlando and Rinaldo
Enamel and oil, 60 x 151 x 68.2 cm
This refrigerator is inspired by the chivalric epics and the exploits of the characters therein. One panel features the paladin Orlando in the act of striking Charlemagne with a stick; on another is Rinaldo who bravely defends Montalbano; on the last is Ruggiero challenging Riccardo. A red background accentuates both the lively geometric motifs and the portrait medallions of the heroes of the French court, a revisitation of the classic decorations of the Sicilian cart.
